Positive Learning Experience
There are many factors that contribute to a positive learning environment inside of a classroom. Having a positive learning environment means that the students feel like when they are in your classroom they are safe and will not be judged for the things they do not know. Classroom management is a large part of this because of structure is a huge part of a positive learning environment. Structure and routines in a classroom helps students know what to expect when they come to class and how the class will be ran. Even the smallest aspects of the teacher’s planning, orientation of the classroom, and classroom norms establish a positive learning environment. I feel like I have done a good job of creating a positive learning environment during my student teaching. I feel that I have built a strong rapport with my students. I believe they feel comfortable in the classroom, they feel like they can ask me questions while I am teaching, and I will not judge them, and the other students will not judge them as well. I do not have many discipline problems either. The only problem I have is students trying to talk while I am, but if I just stop talking the students will stop talking, or another student will tell them to stop talking. I have the tables set up so that students can be separated during instructional periods, but group work can be easily set up by students turning around to the students behind them. I also have them grouped with a table buddy that work together. I usually pair students who I feel can help each other in learning, and to help the student work with others. I also switch seats often so students can work with a variety of different people.
